On/off switch

The main switch should be set to its OFF position when the camera is not in use. This will prevent battery drain or accidental release of the shutter. To operate the camera, move the main switch to ON or ON w/beep position.

At ON w/beep position, the camera gives audible beeps when subject is brought into focus (when the focus button is half pressed) and during self-timer operation.

NOTE
  • The Minolta 9000 draws very little current even in ON (or ON w/beep) position. It's no problem forgetting the switch in the ON position even for several weeks; however, pictures may be taken accidentally as the shutter release button is not locked when the camera is on.
